Classifications of the Host Galaxies of Supernovae, Set III
A homogeneous sample comprising host galaxies of 604 recent supernovae,including 212 objects discovered primarily in 2003 and 2004, has beenclassified on the David Dunlap Observatory system. Most SN 1991bg-likeSNe Ia occur in E and E/Sa galaxies, whereas the majority of SN1991T-like SNe Ia occur in intermediate-type galaxies. This differenceis significant at the 99.9% level. As expected, all types of SNe II arerare in early-type galaxies, whereas normal SNe Ia occur in all Hubbletypes. This difference is significant at the 99.99% level. A smallnumber of SNe II in E galaxies might be due to galaxy classificationerrors or to a small young-population component in these mainly oldobjects. No significant difference is found between the distributionsover the Hubble type of SNe Ibc and SNe II. This confirms that both ofthese types of objects have similar (massive) progenitors. The presentdata show that in order to understand the dependence of supernova typeon host-galaxy population, it is more important to obtain accuratemorphological classifications than it is to increase the size of thedata sample.

Arcsecond Positions of UGC Galaxies
We present accurate B1950 and J2000 positions for all confirmed galaxiesin the Uppsala General Catalog (UGC). The positions were measuredvisually from Digitized Sky Survey images with rms uncertaintiesσ<=[(1.2")2+(θ/100)2]1/2,where θ is the major-axis diameter. We compared each galaxymeasured with the original UGC description to ensure high reliability.The full position list is available in the electronic version only.

Galaxy coordinates. II. Accurate equatorial coordinates for 17298 galaxies
Using images of the Digitized Sky Survey we measured coodinates for17298 galaxies having poorly defined coordinates. As a control, wemeasured with the same method 1522 galaxies having accurate coordinates.The comparison with our own measurements shows that the accuracy of themethod is about 6 arcsec on each axis (RA and DEC).

Look-alike galaxies:. HI observations for look-alike galaxies of four calibrators
We present a programme aiming at applying the Tully-Fisher relation forgalaxies with the same morphological type and the same inclination(look-alike galaxies or sosie galaxies) as calibrating galaxies. Theadvantage of sosie galaxies is discussed. In particular, it is shownthat using sosies of bright calibrators will allow us to explore theuniverse deeper and more efficiently than the classical TF methodapplied to different morphological types and different inclinations. Asa preliminary part, we report in this paper new HI observationsperformed with the radiotelescope of Nançay (France) for sosiesof four calibrators NGC 224, NGC 3031, NGC 253 and NGC 5457. 82 galaxieswere detected. These observations made use of Nançayradiotelescope. The Nançay Radio Observatory is the Unitéscientifique de Nançay of the Observatoire de Paris,associated asUnité de Service et de Recherche (USR) No. B704 to the FrenchCentre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS). The NançayObservatory also acknowledges the financial support of the ConseilRégional of the Région Centre in France.

Kinematics of the local universe. VII. New 21-cm line measurements of 2112 galaxies
This paper presents 2112 new 21-cm neutral hydrogen line measurementscarried out with the meridian transit Nan\c cay radiotelescope. Amongthese data we give also 213 new radial velocities which complement thoselisted in three previous papers of this series. These new measurements,together with the HI data collected in LEDA, put to 6 700 the number ofgalaxies with 21-cm line width, radial velocity, and apparent diameterin the so-called KLUN sample. The large-scale distribution of late-type galaxies between Virgo and the Great Wall
Neutral hydrogen data are presented for 88 of the Virgo Cluster Cataloggalaxies thought on morphological grounds to lie in the background ofthe cluster. We confirm that the morphological assignment of clustermembership works quite well; very few of the 'background' galaxies arein fact at cluster redshifts. The resulting sample of redshifts, alongwith optical redshifts from the literature, allow us to explore thelarge-scale distribution of galaxies in the space between the LocalSupercluster and the Great Wall. Galaxies in a larger window around theVirgo Cluster, but at redshifts between Virgo and the Great Wall, have afairly low average number density, but the distribution is far fromuniform: Some portions resemble voids, but in other portions galaxiescan be assigned to clouds or filaments of appreciable size (sometimescontaining bound groups). We investigate the luminosity function inhigh- and low-density regions of our galaxy sample, which excludes theVirgo Cluster proper. We find no significant difference. However, ourselection procedures are insensitive to galaxies of very low surfacebrightness, which have been reported to be more abundant in low-densityregions. The average probability of a line of sight intersecting theoptical disk of our sample galaxies is derived separately for the VirgoSupercluster region (redshifts below 3500 km/s) and for the regionbehind (out to 10,000 km/s). The number density ratio of Ly-alpha forestlines to galaxies is larger by a factor of order 10 in the far(low-density) region than in the near. A survey of recent literature ongalaxy redshifts uncovers a new candidate, MCG 0-32-16, for the lowestredshift absorption line.

Axial ratios of edge-on spirals
A diameter-limited sample of 888 normal Sa-Sc galaxies was compiled fromthe Uppsala General Catalog. New micrometer measures of the axial ratiosR of the disk components of 262 edge-on spirals in this sample were madeon copies of blue Palomar Sky Survey plates and calibrated againstphotometric standards. The distribution of isophotal axial ratios forthe whole sample was analyzed to give information on the true axialratios R0 of spiral disks. The mean value of logR0 is 0.95 +/- 0.03 and the dispersion about this mean is0.12 +/- 0.04. A similar mean value (0.90) was obtained from avolume-limited sub-sample of 348 spirals. The dispersion in logR0 is partly due to a dependence of R0 onmorphological type, and the mean value of log R0 for eachtype was estimated. Inclinations of 342 edge-on (R is greater than about3) spirals were determined from their isophotal axial ratios and types.No significant dependence of R0 on luminosity at each typewas found.

Observational data for the kinematics of the local universe. I - Radial velocity measurements
The study of the local velocity field requires the use of a very largesample to describe as accurately as possible some prominent features ofthe local kinematics. The problem of collecting a large sample is mademore difficult because of the Malmquist bias which plagues distancedeterminations. The present program aims at determining bias-freedistances for a complete sample in order to study the local velocityfield. The present paper gives 303 preliminary optical and radioredshifts measured for this program at ESO, OHP and NancayObservatories.

HI-observations of galaxies in the Virgo cluster of galaxies. I - The data
New H I-data for a large number of bright galaxies inside the 10 degradius area of the Virgo cluster of galaxies have been obtained with the100 m radiotelescope at Effelsberg. A total of 234 galaxies was observedfor the first time. Among them, 53 have been detected providing newaccurate radial velocities. Data from the literature have been compiled.Together with the new data, they form a (nearly homogeneous) set of H Iobservations for more than 450 galaxies.
